Local logistics partner becomes Soil Association certified

We are all aware of growing concerns with the way we are treating our planet and what the future has in store for us if profound changes are not made. One of the companies trying to combat the maltreatment of our changing world is the Soil Association. They are a charity working across a number of sectors to change and transform how we care for our planet. The aims of the Soil Association are to ‘support a future with good health, in balance with nature and a safe climate’. For the last 75 years, the Soil Association have been working with everyone from farmers to policymakers, intending to support them in exploring their impact on the world and how they can make a positive change.

An essential part of the Soil Association is to vet, certify and monitor businesses that wish to prove they operate to the highest standards of sustainability and integrity. As leading experts in organic certification, they understand what it takes to become a certified member of the Soil Association and what you need to change to get to that position. Mango Logistics are proud to announce that in 2022, we became a certified member of the Soil Association. We are aiming to make a positive difference in our world, and becoming certified with a leading charity of organic certification is just the beginning.

As an organic business, you need to have confidence that your warehouse and delivery partner are supporting you every step of the way whilst remaining environmentally friendly and organically conscious. At Mango Logistics, we aim to make greener choices wherever possible, from using electronic invoices and recycled materials for storing and packing and choosing a fleet based on low emissions. Our fleet comprises ULEZ- compliant vehicles, including pushbikes, e-cargo bikes and vans.

The UK partner with Africa’s continental free trade initiative

It was announced in 2022 that up to £35M would be given to support the implementation of Africa’s Continental Free Trade Area agreement. This multi-million-pound investment will not only assist with trading but also with policy creation and implementation. The agreement began at the beginning of January 2021, just after several African countries had come together in pursuit of making a united trade area. There are challenges that need to be resolved before trading can be fully functional; however, many companies and individuals believe they can resolve these challenges by working collectively and more efficiently.

The free trade agreement is set to benefit over 30 million people across both Africa and the UK in a variety of ways. An investment like this will boost the economy, reduce poverty, provide new jobs and create commercial opportunities between our two continents. As the world’s largest trading block in terms of total area, with more than 40% of the world’s population on board and £47 billion traded in goods and services every week – what is there to lose?

The African continent has made great strides in the last decade, with developed economies such as South Africa and Nigeria, and the emerging markets of Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania, making substantial progress. The benefits of Africa’s free trade initiative to the UK are clear, with the UK already being a significant trading partner with many African countries. Now that the UK has formally ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), there is much to be gained from increased free trade within the continent and with the UK.

Last-mile delivery solutions that battle congestion prices

With London transport contributing to much of the air pollution across the UK, ULEZ was introduced in 2017 with an aim to combat the rising pollution toxic to residents and visitors of the UK Capital. ‘Toxic air pollution increases your risk of heart and lung disease, worsens chronic illnesses such as asthma and puts children’s health at risk (tfl.gov.uk). The ULEZ is in place 24 hours a day, 364 days a year (Christmas day is not included).

Since its introduction, the ULEZ has seen many vehicle owners across London clean up their cars, with 80% of vehicles now being compliant and avoiding that charge. In October 2021, the ULEZ was expanded from its original location in Central London and now covers a single larger zone up to the North and South Circular roads (without covering these roads completely). Mango Logistics is at the forefront of sustainable last-mile delivery solutions that don’t contribute to rising congestion.

At Mango Logistics, we are proud to be an innovative and forward-thinking last-mile logistics team. We are committed to offering our customers an alternative delivery solution that doesn’t impact the air quality within London or the UK. Our fleet of vehicles includes a growing fleet of electric vans, pushbikes, e-cargo bikes and ULEZ-compliant vans, all aimed at being your successful and sustainable delivery partner. Being a logistics company shouldn’t mean we are damaging the environment to get your packages to their final destination on time!
