WE BELIEVE MANGOS MAKE A BETTER WORLD
Mango and the Planet
Trust us to be responsible
At Mango, taking responsibility for the planet means more than the token recycling bin or planting the occasional (Mango) tree – which are all still really good things to do BTW. But there’s always more we can all do and we aim to provide courier and storage services that are customer and environmentally friendly as well as make a difference.
Our commitments for a better planet
Our environmental policy sets out how we minimise our impact on the environment. The main commitments it covers are:
- Making ‘green’ choices wherever possible, from sending out electronic invoices to using recycled materials for storage and packing.
- Choosing our courier fleet based on low emissions.
- Providing a re-cycling facility for all our (and neighbouring businesses) laser toner cartridges through Recycle 4 Charity, with the proceeds going to British Red Cross.
- Where possible (and with client’s permission) any goods that are unwanted and sellable that are past their useful life are never dumped as waste. We then either donate the goods to local charities, sell them on with any proceeds going to a good cause or we re-cycle.
A Band Of Brothers
A Band of Brothers (ABOB) is a charity that is very close to Mango’s heart.
They do excellent work in many communities across the UK, helping young men involved in the criminal justice system so they can live their lives, crime -free and full of meaning, purpose and connection.
A Band of Brothers links adult male role models to young men, giving them experiences that challenge them and support their growth, and providing them with a lasting community that supports them.
Mango is proud to support A Band of Brothers.
Doing our bit can also be fun!
From growing some very fine (and not so fine!) moustaches for Movember to sponsoring local events – doing our bit for the environment and the community is something the whole Mango team enjoys to engage in.
We also try to help sometimes:
2016 has been a year of giving. In March ’16, Mango contributed to raising over £3000 in aid of children’s charity Glad’s House (http://www.gladshouse.com/) to help street Children in Kenya.
In April 2016, we supported KIDS charity by offering free storage space for a period of 6 months and also free deliveries from the storage site.
In July 2016, we supported Willmott Dixon Interiors in their construction of a Youth Training Centre Building in Bermondsey, London by offering them free delivery and storage for a day.
In October 2016, we gave financial donation towards raising £1,916.83 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Helping young people get on in life
As an employer committed to equality and diversity we don’t just have an Equal Opportunities Policy (which we do! Equal Opportunites PDF) we actually live it.
As a central London based company, our team are drawn from every borough and walk of like and reflect the modern image of London. We also provide apprenticeships as a pathway into our industry. Look out for interesting stories on the journeys of some of the apprentices we have recruited on our news page.
